Pueblo Pinto Bean and Carrot Casserole ~ Cheap Eats for an Artistic Winter

All  artists know that money gets tighter as the new year approaches. Some cold months when the gas bill is exorbitant, food becomes a matter of beans and rice and, if I'm are lucky, some of the chile I bought last summer at the Pueblo Frijole and Chile Fest is still stashed in the freezer.

Nothing has changed in my life. I'm…

Springs company rocks the guitar world

Musicians who play guitars with a tremolo bar have to contend with the instrument getting knocked out of tune by the bar’s use.

But a Colorado Springs company claims to have solved the problem.

Its tremolo products, the Super-Vee and Blade Runner, are raved about by some professional guitarists. The Blade Runner, introduced last June, is selling 100 units a day online.

“We have got the product that will bring out the tone potential of your guitar,” said Marc… Continue

The year in review, 2010 a smash hit

Wow.  This past year was an amazing for our Fresh•Ink community, thanks to you! Everything flew by so fast, it’s hard to get a handle on it — but let’s try to put things into perspective.

In January of this year, Fresh•Ink was still a baby--just a few months old and serving only two zones — Westside and Fountain Valley.

After 12 whirlwind months, we’ve nearly tripled our membership. We’ve doubled our print editions, adding papers to serve both Powers Corridor and Briargate.

Holiday driving tips!

As I sit here writing this blog, I am hoping that the snow storm comes in this week. Since we did not get much snow for Christmas, maybe we can ring in the new year with snow shovels!   It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and I am looking forward to a winter wonderland for my kids.

Snow, and holiday traffic, ad a twist to every-day driving. So it’s time to perform some preventative maintenance on your vehicles, and change your

driving habits for the holiday rush and…

A New Take on Gifts this Holiday Season

"Come, they told me," goes the resounding chorus, sung in Sandy's deep, mesmerizing voice. Beside her, Big Jim Adam and John Stilwagen gracefully jam on their steel guitar and keyboard, and Jim's voice booms through the hay-strewn barn.

You've surely seen the story, or heard the song about the Little Drummer Boy—the boy who came to see the newborn Jesus, but had no gift to bring; no gift but his drum to play.

"I have my gift to bring!…

Christmas Traditions: Blueberry-Cream Cheese Christmas Stollen

For as long as I can remember, my mom made what she called Stollen every year at Christmas. Traditionalists would not recognize our family's rendition of Stollen, which is similar to fruitcake. Ours would be described best as a tender sweet roll pastry cradling fresh or canned fruit, with nuts and a sweet glaze topping.

I can still remember the aroma of the yeast bread as a child and the large…
