Her one request for a birthday outing was to visit the local Lockheed facility. Jodi Dunn from Brookdale and Andrea Black from Lockheed took it from there. After much planning and coordinating, a… Continue

Kitchen fire fails to smoke out business

Colorado Mountain Brewery (CMB), suffered a small kitchen fire on Monday, Oct. 25, but that hasn't slowed down owner Jeane Turner or staff. An equipment malfunction sparked a natural gas fire, causing minor damage that put a halt to kitchen operations. The brewery's doors have been closed since the fire, as crews work diligently to make repairs and replace faulty equipment.

Springs Bands Shine in State Marching Finals

After witnessing the Colorado Bandmasters Association 4A/5A State Marching Championships this past weekend, I can say without reservation that Colorado Springs was represented in magnificent fashion. Five Springs area High School Bands stepped onto Air Force Falcon field on Saturday and put on shows that would make some…

The Grow and Learn Child Care Center-Colorado Springs, Colorado

When Daisy came, unexpectedly, to live with me a few months ago, I was not prepared for the whole day care situation again. But , being required to work and obviously not winning the lotto, has forced me to go through interviewing and analyzing preschools for her.

At first, I just assumed that all day care facilities are well monitored and that the rules are always followed. No, that is not reality. Reality is, for the safety and well being of a child, you must get out and interview… Continue
