Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet

Trick or treat, smell my feet, gimme somethin' good to eat!

Halloween back in the 70's was a holiday I looked forward to every year. We lived in a safe neighborhood, so once we reached a certain age, Mom and Dad let us kids go trick-or-treating on our own. My two brothers, two sisters and I would head out, orange plastic pumpkins in hand, and hit the neighborhood streets all night long. As we grew older, we switched to pillowcases in order to carry more Halloween booty and hit even… Continue

I Heart Etsy.com

I was recently introduced to a website called "Etsy.com--Your place to buy and sell all things handmade."

It is one of the best websites I have ever used, and provides an excellent way to sell handmade crafts. From one-of-a-kind jewelry to original paintings, fine photography to geekery, gadgetry to crochet and knitting, you name it, you'll find it on Etsy.

Here is the link to get to their main webpage:

Don't Push the Red Button...

Find more photos like this on FRESH INK

In the classic film The Matrix, the red pill is dangerous. It calls your name, you can't take your eyes off it. Same with the red button.

My good friend, Libby Pierce in Florida, just sent me this poem. It touched me so much that I just HAD to post it at YourHub for others to see.

My e-mail signature has a quote from Maya Angelou and reads "There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you." Well said, Ms. Angelou, as I'm sure any writer will agree.

Here's another of my favorite quote of hers: "A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find… Continue

Homemade Salsa Recipe

My good friend, Annie, from the Dominican Republic, taught me this recipe.

You can hand chop everything, but thanks to my coworker, Jim, and his wife, Wanda, who gave us a Cuisinart food processor as a wedding gift, it has cut preparation time down to 1/4 the time.

You will need:

2-4 bunches of fresh cilantro (depending on how wimpy the bunches are)

4-8 medium tomatoes (preferably roma or plum)

1 medium red (they look purple) onion

1-2 jalapeno… Continue

Love Knows No Color

Kecia Seyb, our editor at the Powers YourHub, has asked us citizen journalists to share our love stories. Since the story of meeting my husband, Greg, is an unusual one, I decided to post it.

I had been a single (never married, not divorced) mom of three kids for 16 years before I met the man of my dreams. I had given up hope that I would ever find a husband, so I had stopped looking years ago. The kids and I were in the throes of a family crisis, and dating was the last thing on my… Continue
