June - White Teeth and War and Peace

A dark cloud hovers over this post as I regret to confess that of the two June books, White Teeth and War and Peace, I did not read the former - nor the latter. This is not to say that attempts were not made - because believe me, they were. Unsuccessful attempts, but attempts nonetheless.

Sharing our Dreams in South Africa!

Gazette Publisher Resigns for Other Opportunity

Friendly Dragons Available!

Colorado Reptile Humane Society (CoRHS) has a nice selection of bearded dragons available for adoption.  They don't breathe fire, but they're hardy, intelligent lizards.  They typically enjoy interacting with their owner and will sit on a shoulder while their human watches television or works on the computer.

Join Pikes Peak Council, Boy Scouts at the Lady Liberty Dedication

Run - or Walk - to Help Homeless Vets

The annual "Veterans Home Run" 5K run and 3K walk will be held Saturday, July 2nd, at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs starting at 7 a.m. Registration cost is $15 for active-duty military and veterans and $20 for civilians. It is free for wheelchairs and visually impaired or disabled runners/walkers.

Long Horn Cattle Take to the Streets of Downtown Colorado Springs

You might feel the pounding of hooves and smell the dust, taking you back to the days of yesteryear when cattle outnumbered folks in town. The annual Longhorn Cattle Drive will kick off the Ride for the Brand Championship Ranch Rodeo on Friday, July 1, 2011 at high noon on Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs.
