Several programs in Colorado Springs help homeless veterans get off the streets and into rentals. Most of these vets have no household goods so they move into empty apartments and sleep on the floor. Furniture, lamps, small kitchen appliances, TVs, bedding, towels, pots and pans are needed. Tax receipts for charitable donations are available for tax purposes. If you can help, please call Bunny at 471-8527. For more information about these programs, see related posts by Bunny on this website,…

It was the perfect storm: a gaggle of clever, outgoing men; gingerbread; a bicycle bell attached to a beat up metal bed pan; Olympic Athletes, the support of many worthy causes; a female Auctioneer and a man willing to give up his tie – who says chivalry is dead?
I first met them in December. During the holiday season, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado gives a gift back to the community -- a gingerbread village displayed outside Dillard’s in Chapel Hills Mall.…

There is no excuse this year not to have your garden beds ready for planting. The weather has been unseasonably warm and dry. We have had plenty of chances to get outside and add a bit of aged compost or cow manure, turn the soil a bit and hose in some much needed moisture. Every year folks ask us what are our favorite…

When our daughter reached 3rd grade we were struck with the realization that we could no longer leave her education in the hands of her public school. She had not yet learned to read. The school had the desire to help but their efforts produced little results. Even one-on-one tutoring was not effective. We were stressed-out and fearful.
After the school year ended, we had to do something. We did not know where to look, who to ask, or how to get help. As parents,…
