About me

I'm the site manager and editor of PikesPeakSports.us, the digital stomping ground for the outdoor community.
I've lived in the area since 1967, back in the day when our family milked cows for a living on a dairy farm near Calhan.
Graduated from the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State-Pueblo) in 1982. Worked at The Gazette for many years, first as a sports writer, then launched the Gazette's citizen journalism and social media projects.
I've written a lot of words and I loved and fretted over all of them.
I'm fascinated by the online world we live in, social media and the changes that are sure to come.
I'm low maintenance. Just give me my drawing stuff and painting easel, brushes and oils, my fly-fishing rod, mountain bike, trail-running shoes, Tom Petty on the iPod, a piece of dirt for my garden, my guitar, my beautiful wife and daughter, and a good cup of coffee ... you'll get no trouble out of me.

I've been out of town since I quickly put up a post about the ALL TKD Team winning World Competition in Seoul, Korea.   Is there a way to know if an article I posted came out in print?   I did get an "Fresh Ink" email and it was on there, but I don't know if that refers to print or on-line submissions.  Can I get a copy of that if I stop by?   Thanks, Jan

Dear Mr. Bergsten:

Last March, you left a comment on my blog post, Santa's Secret, mentioning you may be interested in publishing this story in this month's issue... is this still true?

Sincerely,

Karen Shiver

Tim - I'm sure you guys are working on this: The "buy drugs online" spamming of this site that's going on... seems to be getting worse?

Just hard to find the "real" articles with all the spam this (probably 1) guy is posting.

There should be a text field as part of the Profile where we can add more personal information such as web pages etc. I just posted a story and the clock was off by one hour. Is the site hosted in the Central timer zone?
