Community gardens sprout all across the Springs

Green thumbs are sprouting faster than Jack’s bean stalk in Colorado Springs.Community gardens — plots that are farmed by a variety of people, oftentimes strangers — are cropping up on land belonging to churches, schools, private residents, nonprofit organizations and the city.  “The interest is huge. Should we replace chairs with exercise balls?

The plastic chair could be destined for the same fate as the slide rule in Laura Gittings' fifth-grade class at East Bradford Elementary School — because the exercise ball rules. The pupils in her classroom and those in another fifth-grade class now sit on brightly colored exercise balls."It's the best thing I've ever done in my classroom. Christine Kwapnoski hasn't done too badly in nearly 25 years in the Wal-Mart family, making more than $60,000 a year in a job she enjoys most days.

But Kwapnoski says she faced obstacles at Wal-Mart-owned Sam's Club stores in both Missouri and California: Men making more than women and getting promoted faster.

She never heard a supervisor tell a man, as…

10 great breakfast ideas for the whole family

Posted on March 24, 2011 at 1:46pm 0 Comments

OK,  I admit it. I was hanging out on Facebook, checking in on a few friends and I saw some talk about breakfast.

Breakfast for kids can be a challenge, no?

My kids never have an appetite in the morning. Getting them to eat ANYTHING is an accomplishment.

But what I read on Facebook indicated that more than anything, we moms need ideas! Our kids come tumbling…

Hi Katy! I hope you are well!

I haven't been online for some months and have gotten a bit rusty at this. Can you give me a few pointers on how to get my blog to appear in either the "All Blog Posts" or at least the "Featured Blog Posts" or "Latest Blog Posts?" I have tried everything I could figure out on my own and am not getting anywhere. Any advice or instructions you could give would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks Katy!  I interviewed the cast members of Annie, Jr and wanted to help spread the word on their musical production.  Such talented kids are representing Monument, Briargate, Fountain and even Florrisant!  The studio is in Briargate but I hope others will be able to read about the production in print.  Thanks again!
