The Palmer Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Post 9-11 invite front range citizens to come celebrate America’s veterans with a special star shine ceremony at the base of Sundance Mountain on Tuesday November 11th at 5:15 PM. The star will be lit at 5:25 PM. The ceremony will feature veterans who will lead a countdown to activate the Palmer Lake Star and have it shine throughout the night in honor of Veterans’ Day.

For the 78th year, the Palmer Lake Star will again shine from Sundance Mountain and decorate the front range for the Christmas season. This is the first year the star is listed on the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties. The Palmer Lake Star is shining this July above the Town of Palmer Lake and you should know why. Some very determined and dedicated citizens built the Palmer Lake Star in 1935. Every December and on special occasions, the 91-light bulb, 500-foot star set upon Sundance Mountain has illuminated the night.
