All about ME...

After battling weight for almost a decade following childbirth, Heidi developed and applied her own weight loss methods and strategies centered on a holistic approach: a better lifestyle focused on healthy nutrition, realistic meal portions and a fitness program for those who aren’t Olympic athletes. Heidi won her battle over obesity, losing more than 140 pounds – from 247lbs to 104lbs – and keeping it off for more than three years.

Heidi is the Editor and Site Manager for the Westside Fresh*Ink, Certified Zumba Instructor, Weight-loss Coach and Fitness & Weight Loss journalist, teaching both Zumba and Zumba Toning in Colorado Springs.

You may find me on the streets of Old Colorado City or Manitou Springs and elsewhere on the westside.

Many have easily spotted me by the trendy hats I tend to sport. Some have even stopped me to ask, “You’re Heidi — with the hat — right?”

As your Fresh•Ink Editor, I believe it’s important to stay active and participate with the community.

But, it’s not only important for someone like me.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Fresh•Ink is the voice of our local… Continue

Most children don’t give a second thought to their hair — and that goes double for toddlers. But for 3-year-old Zaida Crawford-Emery, her long hair was something she couldn’t bear to part with. Until last Friday, she had never had a haircut.

Zaida loves singing and dancing and was very proud of her long,… Continue

Seasonal flu vaccine fairy tale collapsing

Hi Heidi! I like this site, and as a new member of the westside community I hope to find out a lot about what's going on around here. One question I have about this freshink site, I posted a photo in the "trees" contest yesterday but it hasn't shown up yet in the "view entries" page. how long does it take to post?

Thank you for reading and commenting on my last article. I am glad to make your acquaintance. I am impressed with the amount of weight you lost and the sensible way you went about it. Tactics like "The Biggest Loser" scare me. I don't see how they would be able to KEEP the weight off! I think success is predicated on exactly what you did: change your lifestyle and stick with it. BTW, I was speaking with a nutritionist about the difficulty of keeping weight off. Her opinion is that toxicity in the body tends to make the body want to hold water and fat to "dilute" it. So her approach is to begin with detox.
Best Wishes,

Hey Heidi, How you doing? Last week was so busy for me I'm really trying to get things going and get some flyer's out to get my business going over at Phenom 1 I'm so excited, have you done the radio show? when is that or did it air already?

Anyway I hope to see you again soon, I was wondering if maybe we could set something up in the future with your Zumba and I can invite my Baby Boot Camp mom's it would be a fun change, of course without little ones. But we were just talking about doing other things to mix it up and just checking do you do a pay as you go or a punch card, how do your classes work? Some of them might be interested in adding that once in a while. Let me know have an awesome week.

Hi Heidi,

Actually I don't think that's me but I do live in Woodmen Hills near the Rec Center West. Do you have children? Any little ones? maybe we could get together for a play date, I have an 11 year old daughter, 9 year old son, 5 year old daughter and 2 year old daughter.

I also do Baby Boot Camp maybe you've seen my car it's the only maroon van with the signs. If you have little ones under 5 maybe you would be interested it's lots of fun and a great workout, the only way I get one in:)

Anyway thanks for connecting with me and hopefully we'll meet soon.
