Finished red and black crocodile stitch ladies bag with inner pocket and double-sewn inner lining. Oh, am I so proud of this accomplishment. And just in time for winter accessories or that perfect gift for that special someone for Christmas! Available at Anna's Custom Crochet

Well, I have been away for some time, because I have been very busy trying to get my Anna's Custom Crochet up and running. I opened a store on if you would like to check it out or just share it around and spread the word.
Christmas is just around the corner and you will find a variety of items from baby booties to ladies fingerless gloves, boot cuffs, and gorgeous bags.
Don't let Christmas sneak up on you!

Selecting a Preschool for Your Child

“Is my child ready for school?”  “Why would I want to send my three year old to school?”  “What kind of preschool is right for my child?”  “School, already? It seems like yesterday my baby was born!”

As young children reach the age of three, many parents begin to consider what their child’s first formal educational experience might look like.  Preschool is an important milestone in a young child’s life (maybe even more so for their parent!) and a decision with which many people struggle.

Most children are ready for a more formal early childhood environment by the age of three, but the wide range of choices available can be overwhelming to parents.  Play-based, church-based, developmental, Montessori, and the list goes on.

When choosing a preschool, it is important to do your research. After compiling a list of schools within a reasonable distance from home or work, check out the websites of each of them.  How much information can you gather about their curriculum and philosophy? When you find several that seem like a good fit with your own philosophy, call and make an appointment to visit with the Director of the school.  It is best to have this first visit without your child, if possible, as it will give you a chance to gauge your own comfort level and determine if the financial commitment is in line with your expectations.  This is also a good time to ask for contact information for current families willing to act as references for the school.  Getting the perspective of parents with children in the program can be helpful in determining if it is a good fit for your child.

At this point, you should narrow your choices to one or two schools and make arrangements to visit the school with your child. This visit should provide your child the opportunity at some level to interact with the environment and the other children. Depending on their temperament, your child may react with some shyness or timidity, but you will still be able to observe how the teachers interact with the current students as well as your own preschooler.  Do the adults in the environment treat the children respectfully? Do they get on the students’ level to listen and respond to them?  Are the children actively engaged and interacting with the environment and one another in a safe, respectful manner? Are there a variety of activities to help your child develop socially, academically and physically? Is this a place where your child will feel comfortable?

Choosing the right preschool for your child is important.  This will be their first encounter with “school” and a positive and joyful experience will set them on the right path to enjoy a lifetime of learning.

The event features live music, face painting, balloons, and games for kids and adults of all ages to enjoy.  LuLu’s Frozen Yogurt is giving away one dish of frozen yogurt for every donation of $1 or more to the March of Dimes.

Follow the signs and balloons to LuLu’s Frozen Yogurt, located in the Pine Creek Village Center at the northeast corner of Briargate Parkway and Chapel Hills Drive.

LuLu’s is a self-serve frozen yogurt shop where customers become dessert artisans by choosing their favorite yogurt and topping combinations. Twirl, Top, and Taste your way through 16 delicious flavors of frozen yogurt and dozens of tasty toppings.

"Colorado Springs is an ideal location for LuLu’s Frozen Yogurt," said owner Teri Lucero. "Our self-serve concept brings the convenience of build-your-own yogurt and topping combinations in a pay-by-the-ounce model. In a tough economy where consumers are seeking a sense of control, we're providing affordable fun, in a family-oriented environment."

As active members of the Colorado Springs community the Lucero family is passionate about giving back. As a way to show their appreciation and passion for the community, all donations from the event and a percentage of sales after will go to benefit the March of Dimes organization.

“The March of Dimes is excited to partner with LuLu’s Frozen Yogurt at the opening of their Briargate location," commented Aimee Sagan, Community Director for the March of Dimes. "We are thankful for this opportunity to raise awareness of the serious issue of premature birth and the fact that one out of every eight babies is born too soon in our community.  We also hope to educate women about March of Dimes and resources that can help them to have full-term and healthy pregnancies.”

New locations and franchises are under development and expected to open in the next year.  Days and hours of operation for LuLu’s Frozen Yogurt are Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

When you have a big family and four of them are in the military, in college or on missions; its nearly impossible to have everyone together for graduations or Memorial Day cookout in the backyard.  This is even more true when you have 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren with two more greats on the way.
